summertime hello.

A few fun things from around the web!

1. What it costs to eat at every 3-star Michelin restaurant in the world.

2. Genius Picnic Bag on my wish list.

3. Consider this yet another reason I dream of being gal pals with Kristen Wiig.

4. Can't wait to visit the giants in Mariposa Grove with my parents this weekend!

5. Grown men reenact conversations with a toddler.

6. Rent in SF is actually the worst

7. Lowland Hum plays at the Garage. Their album Native Air will be available two weeks from today. I already have it and man is it good.

8. I will be playing on this beach in Costa Rica with my handsome husband love in just 2 weeks!

Hope everyone is having a full and happy summer : )

lowland hum.

Remember Daniel and Lauren from this post back in June?

Well, they are up to something new and wonderful:

Please consider gifting them a donation of any size to help with the costs of recording their first joint album. They are two of my dearest friends and I am truly very excited for their new music. I've heard sneak peeks and I'm telling you, it's wonderful. They are magnificent together in marriage and music.

Visit their KickStarter Page to learn more or donate.

(And have a look at the awesome/creative/hilarious rewards for their backers on the right side of the page.)

100!

It's a momentous day for finnfolk. This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I would just like to share an awesome video. This is far more interesting than any gimmicky thing I could do like listing 100 obscure facts about myself or 100 pictures I love. I'm fairly confident we'd all be bored by #24 or so. This video is better. So if you've got a few minutes, I think watching it will make you smile. It's beautiful in lots of ways.

Thanks to everyone who reads along!

saturday at the america's cup.

The America's Cup is still in town so Finn and I spent Saturday afternoon at Marina Green watching more of the races. We had an awesome front-and-center view, just at the water's edge (and just behind some 60-somethings who were sneaking wine and really enjoying themselves). The excitement of seeing the races so close-up joined with helicopters overhead, cheering people, a hilarious British commentator, and a curious sea lion who kept popping up close to where we stood all made for a very fun afternoon.

The day ended with a Dr. Dog show, where, while waiting for their set to begin, we appropriately befriended an actual dog. He was a portly little gentleman named Gus who, being partial to a good head scratch, hung out with us for about 20 minutes. Look at that face! I loved that little guy. The show was fun though we ended up dipping out early so we could hang out and eat pizza at home, TMNT style

another side EP.

There is a musician named Daniel Levi Goans.

He dreams/writes/plays exceptionally wonderful folk music. This is him and his wife Lauren earlier this year in France, where they did a bit of recording and touring. I can pretty much guarantee that if you spent 10 minutes with these two people, you would immediately love them and want to be their neighbors. Daniel, who has been playing music for over 10 years, is one of the most creative, deep-thinking, intentional, and passionate humans and musicians I've met. His music is poetry. Lauren is an incredible artist with a dear heart & bright smile who now sings alongside him, an excellent addition to his sound.

Today they release the Another Side EP. I recommend you spend $5 and enjoy it.

"The Southern folk tunes of Daniel Levi Goans are exceptionally -intimiate & classy....a harmonic delight with an uncanny ability to stir up pleasant emotions, child-like memories, & good 'ol Southern fun".
-Inside World Music

Basically, his music is very good. You might want to check it out.
